Lockdown, Pakistan & Bibles

By February 18, 2023February 21st, 2023Walking with Jesus3 min read

2020 was a year of uncertainty in a lot of regards. Amidst the lockdown and varying degrees of unrest in our region, I sensed Jesus leading my family into deeper devotion to His church. There were some really cool stories, and lifelong friendships that resulted from that season, including one with a brother I will call Mike. For the safety of him and his team their identities are being concealed.

Mike is a follower of Jesus living in Pakistan. He works with a team from a local church to preach the gospel and make disciples in and beyond his community. In the beginning of our friendship, I had a lot of question for Mike about life in Pakistan, and what it was like to follow Jesus there. There were two details that stuck with me from our conversations in those early days. The first, is that Pakistan is a relatively poor county, at least where Mike lived, and money was hard to come by. The second, is that following Jesus in Pakistan came at the cost of being scorned and mistreated by the society as a whole. Needless to say, my heart was heavy for him and his team.

As our friendship grew, I found out about one major challenge Mike and his team faced. They didn’t have any funds to give Bibles out to all the men and women who were being baptized. I shared this with our small church, and everyone decided they wanted to help, so we bought Bibles for Mike and his team, and the rest is history.

In the years since, we’ve had the opportunity to partner with Mike and his team to give out Bibles, food, Christmas presents, as well as help to fund other ministry related needs. My personal favorite is the motorcycle, which is utilized to reach people in the surroundings cities, pictured below. In the picture you will see Mike and his team of six squeezing onto two motorcycles.

Friendly Wounds was founded in part to help raise funds for Mike and his team. Currently 20% of all profits are being used to help support their work in Pakistan. Thanks for taking the time to read, and supporting the Friendly Wounds mission!
